Woman Wearing a Medical Mask

For all those people of Los Angeles, California and other parts of the United States on July 11, 2020 Donald Trump President of the United States was seen in public wearing a mask during a visit with U.S. Soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Hospital. This was a tone setting moment for the President and the people of Los Angeles, California and the United States of America, as our president was being seen wearing a mask in public and telling each and every one of us, including Los Angeles, California that the time has come to take wearing a mask seriously.  It is an imperative message that each and every one of us needs to wear a mask when we are out in the public.  Two ply masks are considered safer than one ply Los Angeles, but a cloth mask fill do the job to cover our Los Angeles mouths and nose to prevent our nasal passages from breathing in Los Angeles droplets of virus or sucking droplets down our throats to prevent the spread and infection of the Covid-19 virus in Los Angeles. The WHO (World Health Organization) and the CDC (U.S. Center for Disease Control) have both confirmed that wearing a mask is the second best way Los Angeles to prevent the spread of the virus; the number one way is to stay home Los Angeles and not interact physically with people who have the disease or are carriers for the Covid-19.  Social distancing is also an important factor Los Angeles in the prevention of the Covid-19. Social distancing has been defined Los Angeles by the WHO as when two people are at least One (1) meter apart; the CDC Los Angeles says when two people are six (6) feet apart.  Los Angeles, when you are at least 6 feet away from people and you are not wearing a mask, your odds of getting Covid-19 are exponentially lower than if two Los Angeles people are within 6 feet of each other and NOT wearing a mask.

A medical colleague from Kaiser Permanente in Southern California gave the following visual to describe the difference between wearing a mask in Los Angeles and not wearing a mask.

Two people living in Los Angeles, California are walking towards each other and stop six (6) feet apart on Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles, California.  William Snow appears to be a healthy young man and he is also a carrier for the Covid-19 and Linda Cutter is a healthy young woman.  They stop and stare at each other before talking at the Ventura Boulevard corner.

If William and Linda both are wearing a mask, the odds of Susan catching Covid-19 from William are less than 1.5%.

If William and Susan are both uncovered and not wearing a mask on the corner of Ventura Boulevard, the odds are up to 70% that Linda will get Covid-19.

If either William or Linda is wearing a mask and the other one is not while they are standing at Ventura Boulevard, the odds of LInda getting Covid-19 are 5%.

So every William and Linda and everyone else – the only question that you need to ask yourself before heading to Ventura Boulevard is not whether to wear a mask, it is making sure that you wear your mask every time you venture outside to your own Ventura Boulevard.
